libraryWhat I’m up to at the moment:

My main focus is work on the next novel – set in the Highlands of Scotland.  Lots of research, talking to people, thinking, visiting, watching, learning and… writing.  I am very thankful to Creative Scotland for awarding me a grant towards this work.

I also love my work two days a week as Library Assistant in Kingussie High School.

Coming up:

Retreat on Spiritual Journaling at the wonderful Bield of Blackruthven.  Saturday, 30th April.  Bookings essential.

Appearing at the Ullapool Book Festival 6-8 May.  Join us for one of the Highland’s most engaging literary events.

What I’ve recently finished:

Recording of my radio play “My Life and Other Stories” for BBC Radio 4.  Two intense, exciting days at the end of February with cast and techies in the BBC Scotland studio at Pacific Quay.  Broadcast will be Monday 14th March at 2.15pm GMT, and available for a month after that on BBC iPlayer.

Tour of the Highland Archive Centre in Inverness followed by lunch with a few good folks from the Society of Authors in Scotland and the Highland Lit Salon.  Tuesday 23rd Feb.

Last July I did a two week DIY book tour of four cities in north America: Boston, Chicago, St Paul & Toronto.  A jam-packed, head-spinning, heart-warming time.  Read the full story here.

And for the story of the Aussie tour in January last year (a mini Melbourne medley of four events), look here.
